Who We Are

Worldfriends is a non-profit, non-political, and non-sectarian organisation committed to:

  • Fostering a real intercultural dimension through student mobility
  • Enhancing the individual cognitive process and intellectual growth through scholarship opportunities
  • Building lasting friendships through structured hospitality exchange

Our Origins

In 1972, studying abroad at a college was a privilege reserved for a few. Thanks to the direct management of charter flights and partnerships with numerous colleges and universities across the UK and USA, along with the contribution of over 1,300 staff members—including teachers, group leaders, choreographers, and more—our international group (Language Tuition Group) managed to drastically reduce costs, making study holidays accessible to a wide public.

The Europe 2000 Initiative

In 1992, the International Teachers’ Association (ITC), an official non-profit training body within our group—recognised by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) and founded by our President—launched an ambitious initiative: Europe 2000. The aim was to foster cultural exchange and promote European integration among sixth form college students. The initiative attracted key figures of the time, including:

  • Tom Boswell (UK Minister of Education)
  • Antonio Ruberti (European Commissioner)
  • William Powell (President of the British/European Parliamentary Group)
  • Enrico Ferri and Gaetano Rasi (Italian Ministers)
  • Mord Rozanski (President of Rider University and the University of Guelph-Ontario)
  • Cardinal Giuseppe Caprio (Vatican)

Despite significant efforts, the project was eventually shelved: it was simply too far ahead of its time.

Our Vision Today

Today, Worldfriends leverages modern technology to enhance and expand ITC’s original mission: supporting individual cognitive development and fostering global connections through meaningful cultural exchange.
